A student from a disadvantaged background who gains a first class degree from a top university is less likely to secure an elite job than a more privileged student with a 2.2.
We work to create the conditions for undergraduates from less-advantaged backgrounds to access and sustain top graduate jobs.
Our main activity is delivering an intensive programme of career support, working in close partnership with leading employers and universities. This year, upReach programmes will provide tailored support to over 2,000 students from across the UK, helping them to broaden their horizons, understand career pathways and develop the skills, networks and experiences needed for career success.
In order to achieve our mission, we undertake other activities and initiatives that:
- Facilitate contextualised recruitment by graduate employers
- Support sixth-formers, explaining post-18 and graduate career options
- Help students to understand their employability
- Recognise students’ successes, creating vital role models
- Give students access to a professional network
